Sani / Ikos Group recently confirmed the acquisition of more than 30 plots, totaling 200 square meters, on Kissamos Bay in Crete, to create its first resort under the Ikos Resorts brand on the island.
New Ikos Kissamos will have a total of 400 rooms, bungalows and villas, spanning 600 meters of seafront. Construction of the resort will begin in 2023 and its operation is scheduled for May 2025. Total investment in Crete will exceed 125 million euros, while the company estimates that more than 750 new positions will be created.
According to a company announcement, the group had for years been aiming to enter the Crete market.
âThe development of the luxurious five-star resort, Ikos Kissamos, will give a significant boost to quality tourism in the region of Chania and West Crete, a rapidly growing destination, with significant benefits for the local community, employment and the economy. At the same time, it will strengthen the image not only of the region but also of Crete as a whole, as a flagship of Greek tourism, âsaid the group’s management.

The announcement came as Sani / Ikos continues to expand to other top destinations in Greece and abroad.
In August 2021, the Sani / Ikos group entered into an agreement with the Spanish group Roxa and acquired former Blau Porto Petro in Mallorca. The property will be transformed into a luxury five-star resort, which will operate in May 2023 under the name Ikos Porto Petro.
Sani / Ikos too acquired the Alfamar Beach Resort in Algarve, Portugal. After its redevelopment, the complex is expected to operate in May 2024 as a new Ikos Cortésia.
In Greece, the group has acquired the former Club Med in Corfu. The resort will undergo a complete overhaul and open at the start of the 2023 tourist season under the name Ikos Odisia.
In addition, the Sani / Ikos group continues to develop its existing hotels, with the continued expansion of Ikos Andalusia in Marbella and Porto Sani at the Sani Resort in Halkidiki, in northern Greece.
âThanks to the investment plan, a total of more than 2,600 new jobs are expected to be created across the Mediterranean over the next five years,â according to the Sani / Ikos group.

The group is co-managed by Stavros Andreadis, Andreas Andreadis and Mathieu Guillemin and supported by leading investment funds.
The group has set ambitious goals for its seaside resorts to achieve a net zero sustainability goal by 2030, as well as zero plastic and zero waste by 2024.
All Sani / Ikos hotel complexes already source 100% renewable electricity and recycle all wastewater.
The Sani / Ikos group supports more than 40 organizations with the aim of preserving biodiversity on land and at sea, as well as helping vulnerable children and families.
Last year, the group was recognized for its business excellence at the Growth Awards 2020 in Athens.
