Overseas property experts, Property Guides, have discovered the best places for Brits to buy a vacation home. All destinations provide the British with a warm and sunny climate during the winter months.

One of the best destinations for Brits to buy a vacation home is Madeira in Portugal.

Chris Nye, Property Guides, said Express.co.uk: “The climate of Madeira, often described as ‘eternal spring’ is a key attraction of this beautiful island.

“It’s mild all year round. Even in January and February, you will have temperatures of around 19 degrees.

“If you want to invest in a property in Madeira, you can do so through Portugal’s Golden Visa program.

“It attracts many expatriates to the country every year. A simple investment is enough to gain five years of residency, with the possibility of applying for permanent residency and citizenship.

“In terms of real estate prices, they can be very reasonable. Urban apartments in the capital, Funchal, start at around € 120,000 (£ 100,700). There are many rustic houses and renovation projects in the villages for under € 100,000 (£ 83,915).

The Canary Islands in Spain are another great destination for buying a vacation home.

Chris said: “If you are looking for great weather all year round the Canary Islands are a fantastic choice.

DO NOT MISS

“The Canaries get over 2,800 hours of sunshine a year, at least 1,400 more than the UK!

“The main island, Gran Canaria, has one of the highest annual rental yields in Spain. The Canary Islands also remain a popular tourist destination.

“Compared to the rest of Spain, the cost of buying a property in the Canary Islands is relatively low.

“You can find very reasonable little villas on the coast of Fuerteventura for under € 100,000 (£ 83,915.”)

The third best-value holiday destination was Turkey, where Brits can find bargains.

Chris said: “If you are looking for an end of season vacation home, Turkey is a great choice.

“Antalya is the number one place in Turkey for foreigners looking for a vacation home and prices per square meter are below average at 4000 lire (£ 279) per square meter.

“Didim on the Aegean coast has long been a favorite with British expats and has extremely affordable property prices compared to other parts of Turkey.”

For Brits who wish to travel further afield for their vacation homes, Florida is another great value option.

Chris said Express.co.uk: “You can buy affordable property near amazing beaches or attractions such as Disneyland and Universal Studios.

“In addition, there is no state income tax and all retirement income is exempt from state tax.”

Egypt is another fantastic value option for Brits looking for a vacation home.

Chris said: “Property prices in Egypt are extremely affordable and could be a great investment.

“You can get a two bedroom apartment in the resort town of Hurghada for just £ 15,000.”
