By Ruben Morales Iglesias: The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) is hosting one-day customer service and leadership workshops in Placencia and Punta Gorda next week.

BTB said workshops under the theme “Defining Customer Service and Leadership” are offered to tourism stakeholders as part of the Elevate training program.

The workshop will be held in Punta Gorda on Tuesday November 1 at the Coral House Inn Palapa and in Placencia on Wednesday November 2 at the Hobbs Brew Barge in Placencia.

The workshops take place from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The course will be led by Claudine Pohl-Hatt of Lemoneight Inc., a company based in Canada. Pohl-Hatt has already held similar interactive workshops in other parts of the country such as San Pedro, Caye Caulker, Belize City, Corozal and Orange Walk, and other countries such as the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Barbados and Spain. BTB said the customer service and leadership training aims to increase the level of customer service provided to tourists across the tourism value chain.

BTB said the workshops are offered to stakeholders in customer-facing positions such as accommodations, tour guides, tour operators, hotel staff and catering staff.

Thirty places are available for the Punta Gorda workshop and 60 for the Placencia course. From the spaces, BTB said they will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
