Heat will settle in Spain this week with a high probability of thunderstorms in mountainous areas
The coming week will be mostly sunny and warm across Spain, with occasional afternoon storms forecast, especially in mountainous areas and in the north of the country. In general though, the daytime temperature will be warmer than normal for this time of year, with many tropical nights on the horizon.
There will be a cloudy start monday august 22 in northern Spain, with light rain in the eastern Cantabrian Sea and the northern face of the Pyrenees. During the day, thermometers will reach 35 ºC in most of the south and east, exceeding 40 ºC in the Guadalquivir Valley.

Tuesday August 23 Will be lightly cloudy across most of the country with rain expected once again in northern Spain, drying up as the afternoon arrives. Nighttime temperatures will drop a little in the Canary Islands and the south of the country, but during the day the thermometers will climb, easily exceeding 35°C once again.

Instability will start to increase Wednesday August 24 and the day will be mostly cloudy in the north and east of the country, with showers and thunderstorms expected in these areas which could be accompanied by hail. In the rest of Spain, rain is less likely but a dry storm could blow in from the south in the afternoon.
Daytime temperatures will increase in the eastern half of the country, the northern plateau, the Gulf of Cadiz and the Balearic Islands, dropping slightly in the west but remaining largely unchanged elsewhere.

Unstable weather will continue in Thursday August 25 in the northwest and northeast but should remain dry and sunny in the Balearic Islands, the southwest and along the Mediterranean coast, with a possible Calima in the far south.
Temperatures are unlikely to drop much below the mid-30s in the south, but will generally decrease in the Canary Islands, central Spain and the north and east of the country.
