Mediapro Studio from Spain Appoints Hemisphere Bilbao Alumnus to Push Production in the United States | New

Spanish producer Mediapro Studio has appointed Carolina Bilbao vice president of content and business development for the United States as it seeks to produce more in the market.

Bilbao will direct the productions in English and Spanish in the United States. She will report to Juan Pablo Santos, senior vice president of content and business development, and Daniel Burman, director of content at Mediapro Studio US.
Bilbao spent 13 years with the United States-based Spanish-speaking media company, Hemisphere Media Group, where she held several management positions. She has also worked for Telemundo Network, Oxygen Channel, Lee Hunt & Associates in New York, Cisneros Television Group and MTV Networks Latin America.
Mediapro Studio’s list of projects in the United States includes Is There No Place on Earth for Me ?, written and directed by John Turturro and based on the novel of the same name by Pulitzer Prize-winning Susan Sheehan and the thriller by espionage The Doctor, directed by Assaf Bernstein.
Additionally, Mediapro Studio completed US production this year of Las Bravas, a co-production with WarnerMedia for HBO Max, and the thriller Código Implacable, produced alongside Sony Pictures Television for Claro Video.
He also directed the TV movie Hunting Ana Bravo, a co-production with Erik Barmack’s Wild Sheep Content, starring Kate del Castillo.
In 2019, Mediapro announced plans to spend hundreds of millions of euros to strengthen its international operations and expand its global production roster as part of its Mediapro Studio initiative.
Burman said, “Carolina will be a valuable asset to the studio not only because of her extensive experience in content production, but also her extensive knowledge of the industry in the United States.”

Earlier this week, Mediapro Studio appointed Eugeni Sallent, its former country manager for Colombia and Italy, to head its operations in Latin America.
Sallent will oversee all Mediapro Studio offices and productions in the region, reporting to Marta Ezpeleta, Director of International Offices and Distribution at Mediapro Studio.
