MATCHDAY: Barcelona try to regain 2nd place; Burnley–Southampton

SPAIN
Barcelona are trying to regain second place and stay in position to secure a Champions League place next season when they visit sixth-placed Real Sociedad in the Spanish league. Barcelona are one point behind Atlético Madrid with two games less. Sevilla, sitting in fourth place level on points with Barcelona, visit penultimate place Levante. Barcelona are coming off back-to-back defeats at home – to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League and to Cadiz in the Spanish league. They had not lost two matches in a row at home since 2003. Sociedad are unbeaten in five consecutive matches, with three wins. He is five points from last place in the Champions League. Cadiz, one point out of the relegation zone, host eighth-placed Athletic Bilbao.
ENGLAND
Burnley can move a point from Premier League safety by beating Southampton. It will be Burnley’s first game since the sacking of longtime manager Sean Dyche, with the club battling to avoid relegation. Mike Jackson, Burnley Under-23 coach, will temporarily take charge of Southampton. Everton sit above the relegation zone and are four points clear of Burnley after drawing 1-1 with Leicester on Wednesday.
