It’s Not Too Late for Spring Break Travel Deals

(NewsNation Now) – For snowbirds who’ve worn nothing lighter than a parka for three months, the idea of a beach vacation could be spellbinding, and travel expert Peter Greenberg tells Adrienne Bankert , host of “Morning in America,” that there were still offers to be had.
Greenberg started with the bad news, saying airfares are rising about 7% every 10 days, so the longer you wait to buy, the worse it will get. However, there are 27% fewer people traveling now than in 2019, so there is still space available not only on planes, but also in destinations.
A trip this year from New York to Los Angeles over Easter will cost around $230 round-trip, Greenberg said. In 2019, that same getaway cost $450. New York to Tampa, Florida was $171, down from $250 previously. Even the popular race from Chicago to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has gone from $275 to $109. These prices are from discount fare websites.
The deals don’t stop at airfares. Many hotels in spring break destinations bundle airfare and rooms, so you get deep discounts on both. These are for the most upscale hotels, with savings for a week at an upscale Miami resort of $2,000, for example. Even three-day weekend packages can be had with 30-40% discounts.
Greenberg went on to point out that venturing overseas can bring some truly amazing spring break deals, like Chicago to Paris for $500 round-trip. You can fly from Dallas to London or from Phoenix, Arizona to Barcelona, Spain for $700 round trip. These may not be beach hotspots, but you are sure to have an unforgettable spring break.
These airfares represent about a 50% drop from their 2019 levels, so the discounts are similar to those found in the United States.
