Florida emergency crews battle apartment fire

One person was taken to hospital as emergency crews responded to an apartment fire in Palm Beach County on Monday morning. Flames and smoke could be seen in the complex near Forest Hill Boulevard and Jog Road. A WPBF 25 News crew at the scene said the smell of smoke in the air was strong. “They immediately noticed that the smoke and flames were high and heavy and coming through the roof. So they immediately called a second alarm. The second alarm sends more units. So more units came in, they were able to rescue a victim from the balcony at the back of the building,” said Palm Beach County Fire Rescue District 42 Chief Bill Stansbury. Firefighters arrived at 5:51 a.m. The fire was designated “under control” shortly after 7 a.m. “I got up and my mother told me that there was a fire in the building, and that the fire brigade and the police were passing.
