As the winter holidays approach, the demand for flights also increases significantly, especially for destinations like Portugal and Spain, and in particular in the latter’s Canary Islands.

Such conclusions were drawn from the recent report published by Lufthansa Group, reports SchengenVisaInfo.com.

In addition, the report pointed out that other destinations, such as Lapland in Finland, are also back on the flight schedule. At the same time, it was pointed out that New York and the destinations in the state of Florida are particularly reserved.

In addition, in response to increased flight demand, Lufthansa Group airlines including Lufthansa, Swiss, Brussels Airlines, Austrian Airlines and Eurowings are offering nearly 80,000 additional seats on 440 additional flights for the next season. holidays. as well as the new year.

“Travelers can make their personal contribution to climate protection and make their air travel CO2 neutral. In addition to the possibility of compensating for theft through high-quality climate projects, Lufthansa guests can already fly on sustainable fuel today. The airlines of the Lufthansa group have integrated the options into the reservation process ”, the statement reads.

Previously, the Spanish National Institute of Statistics (INE) had pointed out that during the first half of this year, from January to June, only 5.4 million international travelers visited Spain.

The same pointed out that during the last year the following Spanish regions received the highest number of passengers: the Balearic Islands (1.3 million visitors), Catalonia (975,000 visitors) and the Canary Islands (750,000 visitors).

At the same time, the National Institute of Statistics (INE) showed that passenger traffic at Portugal’s national airports fell by 44.6 percent in the first six months of this year, compared to the same period last year.
