Expo 2020 Dubai: Spanish National Day celebrations at the country’s pavilion – News

The celebration of the Spanish National Day took place on Tuesday evening at the Spain Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai. The celebration was hosted by the Embassy of Spain in Abu Dhabi, the Pavilion of Spain and the Spanish Business Council (Spanish Chamber of Commerce in the United Arab Emirates).

Over 350 people attended the event, hosted by Spanish Ambassador Iñigo de Palacio España, Carmen Bueno, Deputy Commissioner General of the Spanish Pavilion, and Guillermo Cobelo Fernández, President of the Spanish Business Council (SBC).

Among the guests were Emirati officials, representatives of Spanish companies, members of the Spanish Business Council, ambassadors, members of the Spanish community and Expo officials, according to a press release.

Addressing the assembly, the Deputy Commissioner General of the Spain Pavilion invited the Spanish community and all guests to visit the pavilion and enjoy more than 100 performances held over the next six months.

“During the Expo, the Spanish Pavilion organized a very rich cultural and specialized program of activities and events. This program opened with the flamenco singer Miguel Poveda, and currently the musical group Artefactum plays in different venues of the Expo, ”said Bueno.

Fernández, President of the SBC, thanked all the entities that made the event possible, in particular the Spanish companies that sponsored it, and invited them, as well as the whole Spanish community, to take advantage of the Expo to show that Spain has a lot to contribute to ‘Creating a better future’.

He said: “Today I think we have left our darkest hours behind and being a strong and united community we have managed to move forward.”

Finally, the Ambassador of Spain, on his first national holiday in the United Arab Emirates, reaffirmed the excellent bilateral relations between the United Arab Emirates and Spain and he expressed his joy and pride for the Spanish commitment to the United Arab Emirates. United Arab Emirates.

“I have found great Spanish involvement in the United Arab Emirates, be it in business, science, research, public affairs or culture. It makes us very proud and confident in the future of our presence here.” , said the ambassador.

On this special occasion, the Spanish government and the Spanish Embassy in Abu Dhabi recognized leading Emirati institutions that have actively strengthened bilateral relations between Spain and the United Arab Emirates. The entities were awarded the “Friends of Spain” awards.
