Augusta 2022 Women’s National Amateur Field includes 39 of the world’s top 40

The Augusta 2022 Women’s National Amateur Champ was released on Wednesday, and it features some of the absolute stars of the women’s amateur game. After the first two iterations of the event (2020 was canceled due to COVID-19), 39 of the world’s top 40 golfers will compete in April in the tournament, which takes place the week before the 86th Masters in Augusta, in Georgia.
Rose Zhang is the headliner and will be ANWA’s favorite. The Stanford rookie has won his last four tournaments by an average of nearly three strokes. She completed T3 a year ago at ANWA and T19 in 2019 when she was 15.
Zhang is a star, and her influence will certainly be felt at this tournament, but she’s not the only one making waves. Eight of the other 10 players in the top 10 of the women’s amateur game will also be present. That group will be led by Ingrid Lindblad, a junior at LSU who also finished T3 last year, and Rachel Heck, a sophomore at Stanford who also finished T3 a year ago at Augusta National.
Last year’s champion Tsubasa Kajitani is the only notable absence from the field.
The Augusta National Women’s Amateur will be played at Champions Retreat in Augusta on March 30-31 with the final round taking place April 2 at Augusta National Golf Club.
